- Is an engineer included with every session?
- Yes. Every booking at Lit Factory NYC includes hands-on engineering and session operation by Noam Rubinstein. There is no unattended room rental — the engineer runs the session from setup through delivery.
- Can I bring my own producer or engineer?
- Absolutely. Your producer, engineer, or collaborator is welcome to work alongside us in the room. Lit Factory engineering is included in every session, so you will have a second set of experienced hands on the record.
- What kinds of recording sessions are a good fit?
- Music production, vocal recording, instrument overdubs, songwriting sessions, stem-based work, remixes, and private music instruction all happen at Lit Factory NYC. If you are arriving with an idea, a demo, stems, or an unfinished session, the room is set up to move it forward.
- Can I record vocals at the studio?
- Yes. Vocal recording and vocal production are a core part of what happens at Lit Factory NYC. The room is set up for vocals with a broad microphone locker, quality preamps, and comfortable monitoring. Sessions include hands-on vocal production support.
- Do you offer music production and songwriting?
- Yes. Production and songwriting are central services. Sessions focus on arrangement, sound design, and performance — working from an idea, a demo, or an unfinished session through to a complete record.
- Do you offer mixing and remixing?
- Yes — mixing and remixing are central services. Mixes are built to translate from the monitors in the room to earbuds and club systems. Remix work rebuilds existing material for new contexts. Both can be handled in the studio or remotely with files delivered online.
- Do you offer music production, mixing, or DJ lessons?
- Yes. Private one-on-one instruction is available in music production, recording, mixing, remixing, and DJ technique. Lessons are led by Noam Rubinstein in the studio and work directly with your own material rather than through generic exercises.
- What should I send or bring before my session?
- Bring your references, any session files or stems, and a clear sense of what you want the record to become. If files are relevant, sending them ahead of time helps the session start moving immediately. If you are unsure what to prepare, note it in your booking request and we will guide you.
- How are session files delivered and retained?
- Session files and stems are delivered at the close of each session or shortly after, in the agreed format. Session projects are retained for 30 days after delivery. If you need access after that window, note it in your booking and we will make arrangements.
- When is a booking confirmed?
- A session is confirmed once we have agreed on the date and scope by email and a 50% deposit has been received. The remaining balance is due one week before the session date.
- Where is the studio located?
- Lit Factory NYC is in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Sessions are by appointment; the exact address and arrival details — including transit options and parking notes — are shared with confirmed bookings.
- How do deposits, cancellations, overtime, and minimums work?
- A 50% deposit is required to confirm a booking; the remaining 50% is due one week before the session. You may reschedule once at no penalty provided you cancel at least 72 hours before the session. Minimums and session pricing are available on request — describe your project in the booking form and we will follow up with details.
- Do you work with artists remotely?
- Mixing, remix, and editing can be handled remotely with files delivered online. Recording, production, and vocal work happen in the room. Reach out through the booking form and we will find the right approach.
- How do revisions work on a mix?
- Revisions are part of the mixing process and are handled through to final approval. Specifics are agreed on a per-project basis before work begins.
